It's Almost Over

Well it’s December 1st. 2016 is almost over. And I admit that I can’t wait for it to be done. This year feels like one huge train wreck. Between loosing several icons that shaped my generations youth and an election year that seemed to come straight out of a Twilight Zone episode, 2016 will not be remembered fondly by many.

As much as I wish for 2016 to be over. 2017 won’t magically be better just because it’s a new year. For all we know it could be even worse than 2016. Then again, maybe it won’t. I believe it will entirely depend on how we react as a society, as individuals; to situations and events. We weren’t expecting 2016 to be rough, we didn’t pick ourselves up and forge ahead with open eyes and heads held high. No, we wallowed in the grief, the pain, the sheer insanity that we witnessed.  Now it is too late.

2017 isn’t promising anything. It is waiting. Waiting to see what we will make of it.

Several months ago I began a “soft reboot” of my life and I wrote about my progress at the end of each month. At the end of October I put off writing an update. I was preoccupied with the Presidential election as many Americans were. And like other Americans it took time for me digest the results. Compound the events with my inability to realize I was experiencing a major pain flare, November became rather blurry. Looking back at this week I feel like I am finally emerging from the blur.

I am emerging with purpose and intent.

Discussions were had, ideas exchanged, plans laid out. All that remains is the implementation.

I’m starting with the small goals. You may have noticed that the website looks different. Earlier this week I spent time re-working it and updating every single aspect of it. The next step is something that I have said I would try to do in the past but never really made a go of it. That is to consistently  write content. It doesn’t matter if it’s related to my work or not. The blog is where I blend my work and my life.

Poke around the site. Look  at the changes. Let me know your thoughts. What are you doing going into 2017?
