Music Crush of the Moment

Imagine Dragons cover provided by Google Foo

So yeah, I heard this one on the radio LAST NIGHT for the first time and knew immediately that this was going to be high up on my rotation list. It had several elements that I like – the driving beat, the post-apocalypse feel to the lyrics…

Halfway through the song I turned to Matt and started to say, “This reminds me of…” He didn’t even let me finish the sentence. His reply was “I know exactly what you are talking about.”  What did it remind me of? Radioactive has an AWOLNATION feel to it. (Which for me isn’t a bad thing as I really like recent album.)

I liked Imagine Dragons first radio hit Amsterdam well enough, but this – this song has made me sit up and look at them more closely.

Radioactive by Imagine Dragons

I’m waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I’m breathing in the chemicals
I’m breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I’m waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, whoa, I’m radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, whoa, I’m radioactive, radioactive

I raise my flags, dye my clothes
It’s a revolution, I suppose
We’ll paint it red to fit right in
Whoa
I’m breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I’m waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, whoa, I’m radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, whoa, I’m radioactive, radioactive

All systems go, sun hasn’t died
Deep in my bones, straight from inside

I’m waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, whoa, I’m radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, whoa, I’m radioactive, radioactive
