Music Crush of the Moment

I, like many others that have read the Hunger Games Trilogy, have been looking forward to the movie release for some time. Unlike most, I will be waiting another week or so before seeing it.

I’ve been studiously avoiding just about everything regarding the movie (other than the knowledge that the author loves what was done with the movie with all they had to do to adapt it to the screen) but I couldn’t resist taking a peek at the soundtrack being pushed by iTunes as exclusively theirs.

Over all  The Hunger Games (Music from District 12 and Beyond) looks like a solid soundtrack. A lot of folksy music to be had by some “in the now” artists. Then I noticed Maroon 5 had a song. I clicked the preview button prepared to hear a pop hit that has Maroon 5 stamped all over it. What I heard was anything but. And I loved it.

I loved the simple tune the guitar played, the mixing of Adam and Rozzi’s voices. I could easily visualize perfect moments within the book. It is, at least to me, the epitome of what the Tributes represent to the Hunger Games (and to their respective Districts.)

Listen to the song for yourself and see if you don’t agree.

Come Away to the Water by Maroon 5 featuring Rozzi Crane

Come away little lass come away to the water, To the ones that are waiting only for you. Come away little lass come away to the water, Away from the light you that you always knew. We are calling to you.

Come away little lad come away to the darkness, In the shade of the night we will come looking for you. Come away little lad come away to the darkness, To the ones appointed to see it through. We are coming for you. We are coming for you.

Come away little lamb come away to the water, Give yourself so we might live anew. Come away little lamb come away to the slaughter, To the ones appointed to see this through. We are coming for you. We are coming for you.

Come away little lamb come away to the water, To the arms that are waiting only for you. Come away little lamb come away to the slaughter, To the one appointed to see this through. We are coming for you. We are coming for you.

We are coming for you. We are coming for you.
